Return to Tokyo
After returning from Manado (North Sulawesi) to Bali, I flew on back to Tokyo. I like Tokyo a lot. This time, I wanted to photograph the Tsukiji Fish Market, and so chose the Hotel Conrad as my base camp - not far from the fish market. It is a shame that I could not photograph the tuna underwater, but instead dead and frozen in a Tokyo warehouse.
I used the last couple of days in the city to visit the art exhibition of a friend of mine, and to get to know the locals through him. I had my camera with me, of course, to photograph the big city at night.
My personal highlight of the trip was spending the night in the Peninsula Hotel, not far from the Imperial Palace and the Marunouchi financial area. Here you can quickly understand why Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. But not 100m from the hotel you can find "German" restaurants. As a guest, one feels like being in a restaurant in Germany. Just cleaner ;-)
