Sardine Run 2008

I am on the way to Johannesburg (South Africa) and will travel on to my fourth “Sardine Run” via Durban to Port St. Johns in the Transkei. The “Sardine Run” is a natural phenomenon which I have so far unfortunately only been able to see in the form of small “sardine bait balls”. In recent years I have been able to make very nice pictures of jumping humpback whales. They collect by the Transkei coast between June and July, together with dolphins, sharks and seals, ready for the swarms of sardines.

The Sardine Run 2008 is an official Wetpixel trip
