Pindito - Irian Jaya - Raja Ampat - Sorong
My flight with Japan Airlines (JAL) from Tokyo to Denpasar (Bali) was on time, so I could drive very relaxedly from the airport to my Hotel Stana Puri Gopa and rest there in preparation for the next flights to Sorong (Irian Jaya). The following morning I met the travel group of Stephen Frink and we checked in to Denpasar Airport together for the flight to Sorong. After the long journey from Denpasar to Sorong, we checked in to the Pindito in the evening, and that evening I already prepared my diving equipment for the first day's diving. The first days diving I found to be disappointing. I am disappointed about 4 things:
- the whole diving routine is organised inefficiently
- there are seldom guides underwater, and what would he have shown me?
- visibility underwater was mostly poor and I rarely knew what I should photograph
- I can't say that I liked the skipper or one particular crew member much
So I don't expect the next days to be any better for me, and I will try to leave the boat to Bali.
